Hartfrid has been a lawyer with KPMG since 1999, specializing in public law. He has been a member of Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) from 2005 – 2013 and a board member of the Bar Association Stuttgart. Within Parliament, Hartfrid was responsible for parliamentary rapporteur on all governmental and legislative reports and proposals on migration, integration, intelligence services issues, civil defense, crime prevention, and internal security issues. Since 2015 Hartfrid has been the Co-Head of Public Sector Southwest and Public Sector Security & Defense Germany where he works as a lawyer and Senior Manager on Public Law, major project advisory issues as well as international related projects supporting clients with German public sector know-how. In addition, Hartfrid is the Head of Security and Defense Public Sector which includes taking care of public sector clients (ministry of interior, police defense, civil defense and protection, Fire-Fighting and intelligence services. Hartfrid is a President or member of Executive Boards of NPO´s, e.g. President of the State Traffic Security Association, Member of the Board of the National Traffic Security Association, Member of the Advisory Board of the German Fire-Fighters Association, Member of various civil defense organizations
